Have you ever looked at a TikTok fashion trend (viral TikTok outfits) and thought, who actually wears this outside of their bedroom? Yeah, same. So I decided to become that person. For seven days, I surrendered my wardrobe to the algorithm and recreated some of the most viral TikTok outfits of 2024.
Some were empowering. Some were confusing. One nearly started a conversation with my ex (almost). Here’s everything I wore, how I felt, and whether the internet’s favorite aesthetics pass the real-world test.
✨ Day 1: Coastal Grandma Chic
Vibe: Soft linen, oversized neutrals, and Nancy Meyers energy

- Bucket hat from the depths of my closet

Verdict: 10/10 for grocery store glam. Got called “wholesome” by a stranger. Felt powerful in a very chill way.

Vibe: Athleisure that says “I own a Vitamix and emotional boundaries”

Verdict: 8/10. Felt like I was on my way to emotionally ruin someone’s son at Equinox. Very confident. Mildly suffocating.

Vibe: Fairies who listen to Paramore and thrift religiously

Verdict: 9/10. Chic, elevated, timeless. But note: humidity is the enemy.

- Glowy skin, lip oil, iced matcha in hand (non-negotiable)

Verdict: 7.5/10. Love the look, hate how long it takes to look like you didn’t try. Bonus: got a free skincare sample at Mecca.

Verdict: 6.5/10. Cute and cottagecore-y, but I couldn’t sit cross-legged without a logistical crisis. Beware wind.

Vibe: Understated, sleek, effortless cool

- Low loop bun, no earrings, matte lips

Verdict: 9/10. “Don’t talk to me, I’m mysterious” vibe in the best way. Effortless and comfy. Would wear again.
💭 What I Learned Wearing Viral TikTok Outfits All Week
- The algorithm has range. From Pilates mom to coastal grandma — TikTok trends are basically characters you can wear.
- Confidence > trends. If you commit to the bit, the outfit works — even if it’s wildly out of your comfort zone.
- Trends are tryouts. You don’t have to be the aesthetic to enjoy it. Try them on, literally and figuratively.
