Have you ever looked at a TikTok fashion trend (viral TikTok outfits) and thought, who actually wears this outside of their bedroom? Yeah, same. So I decided to become that person. For seven days, I surrendered my wardrobe to the algorithm and recreated some of the most viral TikTok outfits of 2024.

Some were empowering. Some were confusing. One nearly started a conversation with my ex (almost). Here’s everything I wore, how I felt, and whether the internet’s favorite aesthetics pass the real-world test.

Day 1: Coastal Grandma Chic

Vibe: Soft linen, oversized neutrals, and Nancy Meyers energy

• White linen button-up
• Wide-leg beige trousers
• Raffia tote bag
• Bucket hat from the depths of my closet

Verdict: 10/10 for grocery store glam. Got called “wholesome” by a stranger. Felt powerful in a very chill way.

Day 2: BBL Jacket & Main Character Pilates Mom Energy

Vibe: Athleisure that says “I own a Vitamix and emotional boundaries”

• Black Define jacket
• Lululemon Align leggings
• Crew socks + dad sneakers
• Slick back bun with hair oil realness

Verdict: 8/10. Felt like I was on my way to emotionally ruin someone’s son at Equinox. Very confident. Mildly suffocating.

Day 3: Grunge Fairy Aesthetic

Vibe: Fairies who listen to Paramore and thrift religiously

• Mesh long sleeve
• Pleated micro mini skirt
• Doc Martens
• Layered silver chains and messy eyeliner

Verdict: 11/10. I FELT ALIVE. Not great for wind, but perfect for haunting a poetry café.

Day 4: Matilda Djerf Hair + Scandinavian IT-Girl

Vibe: Casual luxury meets “I just rolled out of bed in Stockholm”

• Oversized blazer
• White tee tucked into light-wash jeans
• Tiny sunglasses
• Blow-dried curtain bangs (attempted…)

Verdict: 9/10. Chic, elevated, timeless. But note: humidity is the enemy.

Day 5: Clean Girl Core

Vibe: Sofia Richie meets skincare routine

• Ribbed white tank top
• Gold hoops + slick low bun
• Neutral trousers
• New Balance 550s
• Glowy skin, lip oil, iced matcha in hand (non-negotiable)

Verdict: 7.5/10. Love the look, hate how long it takes to look like you didn’t try. Bonus: got a free skincare sample at Mecca.

Day 6: Balletcore Is Still That Girl

Vibe: Dreamy, dainty, delicate — but with a kick

• Light pink wrap top
• Flowy mini skirt
• Leg warmers + Mary Jane flats
• Rosy blush, slicked-back bun with a ribbon

Verdict: 6.5/10. Cute and cottagecore-y, but I couldn’t sit cross-legged without a logistical crisis. Beware wind.

Day 7: Scandi Minimalist + TikTok Cool Girl Combo

Vibe: Understated, sleek, effortless cool

• Structured gray coat
• Black turtleneck
• Adidas Sambas
• Crossbody leather bag
• Low loop bun, no earrings, matte lips

TikTok caption style:
“Minimalist but I’ll still judge your fonts. #ScandiCool #MinimalOOTD”

Verdict: 9/10. “Don’t talk to me, I’m mysterious” vibe in the best way. Effortless and comfy. Would wear again.

What I Learned Wearing Viral TikTok Outfits All Week

1. The algorithm has range. From Pilates mom to coastal grandma — TikTok trends are basically characters you can wear.
2. Confidence > trends. If you commit to the bit, the outfit works — even if it’s wildly out of your comfort zone.
3. Trends are tryouts. You don’t have to be the aesthetic to enjoy it. Try them on, literally and figuratively.
